Professional photography tips:

Professional photography tips:
All about Nikon at Wppi with Costellophoto
Being a photographer is not just a owning a camera, being a professional photographer equally is not just owning a more expensive DSLR camera and bits and pieces to attach to it in a shiny case, then charging people you call clients money for your services.
Photography is now considered an art form, skills can grow over the years ,a good eye is particularly difficult to achieve , if you only see the world in black and white, no Grey areas , it is doubtful your take interesting pictures other than snaps, a good eye in photography is the ability to see life in objects and situations from a variety of angles the others would dismiss, every one is different , but you can train you eye to see a new interpretation of of the ordinary with some effort and practice.
Needless to say a picture will speak a thousand words but in a different dialect to differing people.
In my professional world on photography I specialize in in industrial, commercial photography, and make a living out of convention photography, which is a challenge in it's self , How do you make a trade show or meeting in Las Vegas interesting photographically? Well you could just shove a few Show girls in every frame, but that's hardly an answer, on the show floor there are thousands of conventioneers and exhibitors buying and selling every thing imaginable, so it goes that there are thousands of photographic opportunities to capture , to tell the story on the next Magazine cover, or feature on a web page, even be picked for an award winning photograph in a world wide advertising campaign. Choosing the moment you press the shutter button is critical , I often wait half a beat to get the interesting expression, of wait until the subject has momentarily relaxed about having their picture taken to get that shot, a more natural look and expression . This way I get the picture my clients love and increase my good reputation for making the uninteresting visually exciting.
Convention business here in Las Vegas as far as Convention photographers go has gotten crowded by cheap imitations and companies lowering the standards we at costellophoto have set over the years, Trade show Las Vegas photographers like anything else gets diluted when those with little to no experience enter the business, no back up gear, little understanding of the way to use their cameras that are 'consumer' at best work, let alone how to act in the presence of high profile people, it can be embarrassing , fortunately at costellophoto we only employ experienced photographers, with years in commercial photography, news gathering photography, keynote pictures, award ceremonies being shot by knowledgeable dedicated photographers, who know how to treat celebrities and fortune 500 company executives during their corporate event.
Corporate Head shots are also a very big undertaking for any las Vegas photographer , these must be lite effectively other wise you'll have a look like a mug shot and that no one is interested in paying for, remember these pictures are portraits and will end up being printed all over the world and seen by millions of people. Las Vegas photographers do have to over come the over abundance of 'wedding photographers' a market over crowded with camera owners who never take their cameras off auto, and wouldn't know an F stop from a bus stop , let alone color temperature , a term very use full when wondering why your pictures are blue or orange, shutter speed , why ?
An education in photography is an on going thing, you never stop learning, as technology continues to change every thing, and in some cases thought to make photography easy, well easier for those who don't want to take the time to learn, even as we all but loose film, I was told by a rep from Nikon that they have cameras that will show you a sample picture on the camera and show you how to get that effect, actually a brilliant way to educate, all our photographer at Costellophoto have an on going education, as we share photographic knowledge , and the ability to solve photographic problems in the field under stress of and event, in front of convention, or Las Vegas show goers , a room full of photographic subjects, or an award show waiting for you to take that one picture, you have one chance to get it right in front of thousands of conventioneers, industrial, commercial photography is not with out it's stress full moments.
